Clint Culbertson: 16U Head Coach & Pitching Instructor

Coaching Career:

Head Coach at MCC-Longview for eleven years. His career record at Longview was 334-288. In his first year as a collegiate head coach, he helped lead the Lakers to the 2007 DII National Championship. Culbertson would receive the NJCAA DII Coach of the Year as well as the ABCA DII Coach of the Year awards. It was only the second time in school history that the Longview baseball program had made the World Series. The Lakers set a school record for wins going 41-18. The Lakers would return to the World Series in 2008 and finish 5th. During his tenure for the Lakers his teams won 10 Regional Champsionships. He helped 88 players to baseball scholarships at four-year institutions. He has had two First Team, three Second Team and one Third Team All-Americans. Two players (Drew Gray 2007 & Brandon Dulin 2013) were drafted by MLB while at Longview. Three other players were drafted after their time at Longview. He took over Athletic Director duties in 2010 and was named Physical Education Director in 2013.

Culbertson began his college coaching career in 1999 with a four-year stint at the University of Central Missouri under former UCM and Kansas State head coach, Brad Hill. As pitching coach for the Mules, he helped lead the team to an impressive four consecutive 50-win seasons and four World Series appearances; finishing fifth, second and third and ultimately winning the National Championship in 2003. Under Culbertson's direction, his pitchers broke the UCM team strikeout record each of his four years and the MIAA conference record in 2003, led the MIAA in team ERA's each year, finished 7th in team ERA in 2003 and 10th in 2001 nationally in Division II, and had the four best ERA's during Coach Hill's tenure at UCM. Eight pitchers under Culbertson's tutelage went on to play professional baseball.

While at Central, Culbertson coached two summers in the Ban Johnson League for the Kansas City Vipers. As head coach, he lead the Vipers to their first ever division title.

From UCM, Clint went on to the University of Arkansas-Little Rock as pitching coach. As recruiting coordinator, his 2004 recruiting class was nationally recognized by Collegiate Baseball Magazine. Four of Culbertson's pitchers continued on to the professional level.

Culbertson received his BS in Education at the University of Missouri in 1994, where he served as a student assistant for three years under American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame coach Gene McArtor, former MU head coach Tim Jamieson and former Mississippi State University head coach John Cohen (now AD).

Clint earned his Masters in Sports Business and Athletic Administration at the University of Central Missouri in 2003. His thesis work, on the effect of weights in pitching recovery, began his interest in designing conditioning programs specifically for the needs of the baseball player. Each team he has worked with has seen the physical benefits of his strength and conditioning knowledge.
